To the Muses

To this argument I shan't bow
That of life, this is the gist-
'Don't take it too seriously' - how?
Against this, I raise my fist;

To simply wander and breath the air
To see the green corners of the earth
That you take these seriously is only fair
Starting from the day of your birth

Whether you stay and work, or away you rove,
Loving families, or lands from sea to sea,
Spreading your share of human love;
'Tis not a joke, it is Poetry;

I know that it's hard to really prove
That there is meaning in each of us; you!
Flippancy won't help anyone move
Nor will it help us see the world anew.
